We did do a bit of crisscrossing, but we had to get to VEJEN and the Art Museum there. Well, it turned out to be a ‘find’ as it was home to the work of sculptor
Neils Hansen Jacobsen.

Militarismen by Neils Hansen Jacobsen, 1898-99 |
Of course, the museum was having its grounds renovated. That actually made an interesting landscape for some of Jacobsen’s sculptures.
But inside was calm.
Neils Hansen Jacobsen (1861-1941) was born and raised in Vejen before going off to the Royal Academy in Copenhagen.
He married and settled in Paris in 1892, before returning to Denmark after his wife died. NHJ and his second wife built this museum, as well as a residence and studio.
